King’s School Rochester – Sports Development Coach – Rowing

An exciting opportunity for a passionate oarsman/oarswoman to develop and hone their coaching skills.

You will be working in a highly motivated and specialised department with our Head of Rowing, an ex international Oarsman who has been coaching children and adults from beginner to elite for over a decade.

This role will develop knowledge, give experience and support qualifications. It will also enable someone to gain experience in the required elements to go on to complete teacher training. Our Head of Rowing is also able to support and teach boat management and maintenance.

Main duties

  • Provide high quality rowing coaching.
  • Promote an engaging learning environment.
  • Plan and deliver sessions, identifying strengths and improving weaknesses.
  • Employ appropriate strategies for coaching and pupil management consistently and effectively.
  • Set appropriate performance targets for pupils.
  • Coach or assist at regattas.
  • To support the pastoral work of the school.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuing professional development.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the School’s vision and values.
  • Be expected to work in line with school policies.
  • Report to the Director of Sport and will ultimately be responsible to the Principal.
  • Undertake any further reasonable duties as requested by the Director of Sport and Principal.
