Putney Town – Head Coach for Mens Masters
Putney Town Rowing Club is a friendly community of rowers based on the River Thames in London. Established in 1922, we moved from Putney in the 80’s to a spacious, dedicated facility in the shadow of Chiswick Bridge, with gym, erg rooms and bar.
Our well-established Masters Men’s squad has grown to around 30 active members with ages from late 30s to early 70’s. The squad focuses on development of both sweep and sculling, competing in major Tideway races, key Masters events and more local regattas. We have a significant and dedicated range of boats and equipment, with an active squad committee in place to support the coach.
The squad has an annual week-long rowing camp in April in north-west Spain.
Who we are looking for
With the impending departure of a long-standing and successful coach due to family commitments, PTRC Master’s Men squad is seeking a head coach starting summer 2023. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to:
- Coach Masters Men sessions on Saturday mornings and some Sundays. This can be a mix of water and/or land sessions depending on Tideway conditions
- Set and monitor training programmes for the season for both on and off the water with focus on development and a tailored training programme aimed for a performance masters squad e.g. strength and conditioning, periodised training plans.
- Collaborate with the wider coaching group to align objectives with the club development program, develop compatible programs & target similar races.
The squad’s goals for the 2023/24 season are to achieve 2nd quartile results in all the relevant tideway head races and to have multiple competitive boats at both Henley Masters and the Masters Championships.
The position will be considered either as paid, where applicable, or voluntary. Applications are welcome from various levels of experience and backgrounds. Paid coaches will require a minimum British Rowing L2 coaching qualification.
