Putney Town Rowing Club – Club squad coach
Putney Town Rowing Club is a well-established and vibrant rowing club dedicated to fostering a love for rowing and building a supportive community. We are excited to launch a new Club Rowing Squad aimed at providing an inclusive environment for individuals who enjoy rowing but do not wish to commit to the intensive demands of a performance squad.
We are seeking a passionate and experienced rowing coach to lead our newly established Club Rowing Squad. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning and conducting weekly water sessions, providing quality coaching, and fostering a positive and inclusive environment for all participants. This role offers flexible hours and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our club and community.
Key Responsibilities
1. Session Planning and Delivery
Plan and conduct weekly rowing sessions tailored to the needs and skill levels of club squad members.
Ensure sessions are engaging, inclusive, and focused on improving technique, fitness, and enjoyment of the sport.
2. Coaching and Feedback
Provide personalised coaching and constructive feedback to help members improve at their own pace.
Foster a supportive and encouraging atmosphere, ensuring all members feel welcome and valued.
3. Safety and Compliance
Ensure all rowing activities adhere to club, PLA and British Rowing safety policies and procedures
Conduct regular safety briefings and ensure members are aware of best practices on the water.
4. Community Engagement
Promote a sense of community and camaraderie among squad members through social activities and events.
Encourage participation in local regattas and club fun races, where appropriate.
5. Administrative Duties
Use Fitclub for to manage squad members including attendance and uploading training program
Liase with club management to provide regular updates on the squad’s activities and progress
Qualifications & experience
- Proven experience as a rowing coach, with a strong understanding of rowing techniques and training methodologies.
- Relevant coaching certifications (e.g. British Rowing Level 2 Coaching Certification and RYA level 2 powerboat) are highly desirable and required for a paid position. Volunteer positions available with support towards the Level 2 qualification, please enquire if interested in this route.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire individuals of all skill levels.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to plan and deliver structured training sessions.
- Commitment to promoting an inclusive and supportive environment for all members.
Working Hours
Sunday afternoon 12:30-16:30 – 1 session approx 1.5 hours long
