Queen Mary University of London Students’ Union Boat Club (BL) – Rowing Coach

BL Boat Club are looking for an enthusiastic and talented Rowing coach to run the training sessions for both the men’s and women’s senior and novice crews, primarily during on the water sessions. The successful applicant would be supported by a student coach whose primary focus would be working with the novice crews during ergometer sessions and occasionally on the water.

  • Plan and lead training sessions to a group of mixed rowers with diverse backgrounds and experience of the sport
  • Build confidence of returning members and keep retention rates up
  • Provide coaching expertise to improve the quality and standard of training
  • Offer strategic guidance, planning effective training programs and race strategies to optimize team performance
  • Foster a supportive and disciplined environment that encourages rowers to push their limits and work cohesively
  • Be passionate about the sport and building an inclusive and fun environment for rowers
  • Have an understanding of higher education sport
  • Focus on improving rowers technique to prevent injury
  • Work with the club committee to achieve the clubs aims and objectives for this year
  • Display good coaching conduct in line with Queen Mary Student’s Union Code of Conduct.

Please note, it is a requirement for all QMSU Sports Coaches to hold a coaching certification relevant to their sport, as well as relevant first aid and insurance documentation.

Salary: £25 per session dependent on experience and qualifications

Type: Two on-the-water sessions a week totaling x4 hours, split across Wednesday afternoon and Sunday morning to early afternoon. University of London Boat Club (81 Hartington Road, Chiswick, London W4 3TU). Please note, the club is willing to accept coaches who can only make 1 of these timeslots.
