Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club – Rowing and Paddle Sports Manager

The Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club is looking for a high caliber individual to fill the post of Rowing and Paddle Sports Manager.

About the Role

As the Rowing and Paddle Sports Manager, you will report to the General Manager of the Club and lead a 11-member team of dedicated coaching, administrative, and events professionals. Working hand-in-glove with the Rowing Captain, Rowing Committee and its subcommittees, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a thriving rowing and paddling community while delivering a best-in-class member experience.

This role demands strategic leadership, operational expertise, and a passion for rowing and paddling. You will oversee program development, event management, and youth engagement, driving the club’s mission of promoting excellence in sport while ensuring the highest standards in training and operations.

We look for an experienced professional with:

  • Extensive experience in sports management and preferably with a strong understanding of club and committee structures.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and engage both staff and members.
  • Expertise in event planning, financial management, and stakeholder collaboration.
  • A track record of developing successful youth and school programs that promote excellence and inclusivity.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, adept at building strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Fluent communication in English (spoken & written) is a must, any knowledge in Chinese and/or Cantonese is a plus.

About the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club (RHKYC):

Established in 1890, the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club (RHKYC) is one of the world’s most prestigious yacht clubs, steeped in tradition and excellence. With a dynamic and diverse community, RHKYC serves as a hub for sailing, rowing, and paddling enthusiasts. Its Rowing and Paddling Section, comprising over 400 active members, is a cornerstone of the club’s sporting activities.

The club features three locations – Kellett Island, Middle Island, Shelter Cove, and Shatin boat house, each offering world-class facilities for training, events, and recreational activities. The boat parks are meticulously maintained and currently accommodate an extensive over 130 boat fleet covering all classes and categories, and on land ergometers: 33 flat-water and 36 coastal rowing boats, 14 dragon boats, 28 outrigger canoes, and 20 ergometers. RHKYC is proud to host a variety of events annually, such as the Harbour Regatta, Kellett Island Cup, and Around the Island Race, drawing hundreds of participants and showcasing the club’s commitment to competitive excellence.

Salary: Dependent on qualification and experience

Type: Full time (44 hours per week)
