Southampton University Boat Club – Assistant Senior Women’s Coach
Southampton University BC seeks a Assistant rowing coach to assist leading the program for Southampton University Senior Women’s squad. This is fantastic opportunity for any candidates who have a desire to become a qualified BR coach
The part-time role offers flexible hours. The role involves weekend coaching and occasionally mid week sessions
The successful candidate will be available to work on Saturdays and Sundays to coach. Desirable candidates will also be available to coach Wednesday afternoons 1pm-4pm as well as weekday mornings 6am-8am
The successful applicant will be fully engaged with the women’s program and support the lead coach with the session plans. This is fantastic opportunity for any candidates who have a desire into becoming a qualified British Rowing coach.
Skills and competencies required:
- Broad understanding of the sport, either through prior Coaching experience or competing at a high level
- Strong understanding of issues of safety on the water and an ability to instil the importance of this in students
- The ability to enthuse and encourage those they coach;
- The ability to build good individual relationships;
- A passion and enjoyment to work with young people;
- Reliable and punctual;
- RYA level 2 Powerboating certificate is desirable; course training can be provided
- A British Rowing coaching qualification, Instructor’s Award/Level 2 or higher or equivalent is desirable. Alternatively the club are accepting candidates who are working towards this.

Salary: Volunteer role with all expenses covered
Type: Part-time on Wednesday afternoons 1pm - 4pm, 6am-8am some weekdays and up to 8 hours over the weekend. All during university term time.
