University of Portsmouth Rowing Club – Seniors Rowing Coach

The University of Portsmouth Rowing Club is looking for a volunteer qualified coach to lead our senior water training sessions and help our volunteer student coaches to coach and develop our beginners.

The coach will work together with our student performance team, our S&C coach and our other volunteer coaches at Itchen Imperial Rowing Club to lead and deliver a successful programme to our senior members. They will help coach on the water, help create session plans and aid with crew selection for races.

They would be able to attend Saturday morning water sessions in Southampton with our experienced squad, with the possibility of extra sessions on Wednesday afternoons and Sunday late mornings.

They would work with our student coaches to help create an annual plan for the club and aid with the development of athlete performance profiles for individual progression.

Training times and schedules would be discussed upon interest.

We are a university rowing club with around 50 members. Over the past two years we have developed significantly as a club, going from a position of having no access to water training facilities, to having our most successful year to date. We are now looking to take our training to the next level. Currently, we train three times a week on the water, out of our affiliated club Itchen Imperial Rowing Club, Southampton, with whom we have a strong relationship with. Indoor training is run at Ravelin Sports Centre Portsmouth, consisting of weight training, spin sessions and conditioning. We have four land sessions a week, of which our S&C coach leads two.

We are a friendly and ambitious student run club that is looking for someone to help us continue to grow and become more successful.
