Warrinton Youth Rowing – Rowing Coaches (needed urgently)

Coaching for Warrington Youth Rowing incorporating Mersey, Northwich, Greater Manchester, Runcorn, and Staffordshire Youth Rowing.

Warrington Youth Rowing is an outreach charity that works with Pupil Premium children from state secondary schools. Our sessions are during the school day, so this is an ideal opportunity to earn some cash whilst working round your training and learning commitments. We have sites at Runcorn, Warrington, Agecroft, Northwich and Liverpool Vics rowing clubs. We are looking for coaches to work with us – some starting in January and there will be opportunities in September as well.

Check out the information below and get back and email Richard if you are interested to start in January or September. If you don’t have the qualifications, we can help you get those sorted!

To coach at Warrington Youth Rowing, you will need the following;

  • Insurance. British Rowing Membership does have insurance for Coaching, but you must add Coaching to your BR membership profile.
  • A British Rowing Coaching qualification. Session Coach will be adequate.
  • RYA Level 2 Powerboat User.
  • A First Aid certificate.
  • A rowing DBS check. Usually via the local club.
  • You must attend a Welfare Course.

We require proof of all the above and we will retain copies of the relevant documents.

If you don’t have these, don’t worry as we can help you get them and possibly, subsidise you. If we do help you financially, we would expect you to work for us for a minimum of 2 years. We will provide a polo shirt and an outdoor jacket as a uniform, and we would expect you to wear them when working. You will need to sign a contract of engagement with us. You will be self-employed and as such, you will have to submit an invoice to WYR. We will settle all invoices at the end of the month.

The current rate of pay is £34.00 (As per 2023/24) per session. Each session is approximately 2 hours. Sessions do get cancelled occasionally and if we notify you the day before the session, we won’t pay for that session. If the session is cancelled on the same day, we will pay you for the session.

Please direct applications to Richard Sinnott.
