Wimbledon High School – Rowing Coach & Equipment Manager

Wimbledon High School seeks an experienced rowing coach to assist the Head of Rowing in the overall running of its a hugely ambitious, thriving and motivated Boat Club. Specifically, but not exclusively, you will run the Junior 13 and Junior 14 rowing programme, including school holiday training camps. You will also deputise for the Head of Rowing in her absence.

Rowing is a popular sport at Wimbledon High School, with WHS Boat Club a key part of the school community and the community on the river. In just five seasons, Head of Rowing Gillian Lindsay (Olympic silver medallist and World Champion) has taken WHSBC to great heights, including the winning of gold, silver and bronze medals at the National Schools’ Regatta, participation in the Henley Royal Regatta and numerous wins in more local events. As Rowing Coach and Equipment Manager, you will play a key role in continuing this success.

The successful candidate will have proven coaching experience within a school environment, ideally supported by relevant coaching qualifications. You will be an inspirational leader but equally a team player capable in teaching specific rowing styles in harmony with the Head of Rowing’s vision. Part of the role will include transporting both boats and pupils to competition venues and the boat club, therefore a full clean minibus and trailing driving license is desirable (but not essential). The ability to carry out minor boat repairs is also needed.
