Benjamin is only the second man to represent GB in this event. Tom Aggar won gold in the Arms-Only (as it was then called) M1x in 2008, and then finished fourth in the Arms and Shoulders M1x in 2012, before winning bronze in 2016.

Racing Programme
There are five events at the Paralympic Regatta: PR1 Men’s and Women’s Single Sculls, PR2 and PR3 Mixed Double Sculls, and PR3 Mixed Coxed Fours. GB has qualified crews for four of these (there is no PR1 W1x).
For all five events, the racing programme is:
- Friday, 30 August: Heats (9.30am-12.30pm)
- Saturday, 31 August: Repechage (9.30-11.30am)
- Sunday, 1 September: Finals (9.30am-12.30pm)
How the programme works
- Every crew has at least two opportunities to progress to the medal final. If they do not progress directly from their heat, they get a second chance in the ‘repechage’, which means ‘re-fishing out’.
- The number of crews varies between events.
Summary of events and entries

Paralympic Regatta Basics
- Rowing was introduced to the Paralympic Games at Beijing 2008.
- Racing takes place on a six-lane course. From Tokyo 2020 onwards, the race distance has been 2,000m. From 2008-2016, it was 1,000m.
- There are three classifications, now all starting with the letters PR, which stands for Para Rowing:
PR1 rowers have minimal or no trunk function and primarily propel the boat through arm and shoulder function. These rowers have poor sitting balance, which requires them to be strapped to the boat/seat.
PR2 rowers rowers have functional use of arms and trunk but have weakness/absence of leg function to slide the seat.
PR3 are rowers with residual function in the legs which allows them to slide the seat. This class also includes athletes with vision impairment. The cox does not need a classification. - Event abbreviations:
M: Men, W: Women, Mix: Mixed
+: coxed.
x: sculling (where each rower has 2 blades, one in each hand). The PR3 Mix4 + is the only a sweep event (each rower has one blade, which they hold in both hands). - Crews in the mixed events must have an equal number of men and women rowers. The cox can be of either sex.
Did you know?
GB is the most successful Paralympic rowing nation. In the five Paralympic Games from 2008-2024, GB has won 14 medals including 11 golds (more than all other nations put together)!
