Studland Beach Sprint Team Relay
EVENT OVERVIEW
The Studland Beach Sprint Team Relay is for teams of 4 athletes, of which 2 must be women. It will take place Saturday 22nd February at Knoll Beach, Studland. This is an open Beach Sprint event offering racing in the following categories: U16, U19, Senior, University and Masters - specific entry requirements are detailed below.
You will be asked to complete the Team Entry form to provide details of your team when you complete the entry below.
WHEN ENTERING PLEASE ENSURE YOU ARE MAKING THE ENTRY UNDER THE CORRECT CLUB HUB ACCOUNT
ALL ENTRIES MUST BE MADE USING THE ATHLETES OWN CLUB HUB ACCOUNT, UNLESS THE ENTRY IS BEING MADE BY A CLUB.
FORMAT AND SCHEDULE
Racing will be side by side, up to 4 lanes and athletes will run to the boat, row out and around a buoy at 150m race back, jump out of the boat run back to the start line and activate the next athlete, the race concludes with the boat returned to its start position and all athletes touching the flag post.
Registration will open at approximately 8am on Saturday 22nd February, and racing will run until 4pm. Exact schedule, number of races and final format of racing will be dependent on the number of entries, weather conditions and other factors. A final schedule will be circulated a week prior to the event. The intention is for all categories to race together with prizes awarded for the highest placed U16, U19, University, Senior and Masters teams.
Boats and oars will be provided. The manufacturers used will be Filippi or Swift. While different manufacturer boats won’t be raced against each other, different categories may use different boat types, depending on number of entries within each category and the number of boats available.
ELIGIBILITY
To race at the event you must be a British Rowing member
To be eligible to enter U16, all athletes must have been born after 31/12/2009
To be eligible to enter U19, all athletes must have been born after 31/12/2007
To be eligible to enter Senior there are no restrictions on age or university attendance. Entries can be from one club, or a composite of more than one club.
To be eligible to enter University, all athletes must be enrolled on a course at the University they are racing for.
To be eligible to enter a Masters Category, all athletes must be born before 31/12/1985.
The event is open to both experienced and those new to the Beach Sprint format. However, if an individual has not competed in a Beach Sprint event before they should strongly consider taking part in a training session prior to the event either at a GB Coastal Sculling Academy or via one of the Home Nations Beach Sprint Development programmes. We would advise against any new or very inexperienced scullers entering.
