Trentham RC coach wins prestigious award
THE co-founder of Trentham Rowing Club, Darren Barton, scooped the Coach of the Year award for his commitment to his sport.
Barton has coached both youngsters and adults for a string of national competitions and impressed the panel with his efforts to promote rowing.
Judge Nigel Johnson, the broadcaster and chairman of the Sir Stanley Matthews Foundation, said: "Not only has Darren been instrumental in coaching successful crews, but he has also expanded into the classroom."
